In Brief

The program will bring participants together in a shared experience called Jerusalem, and will help them understand its complexity, its multifacetedness, its sanctity and its spiritual and symbolic significance to the Jewish people.

Goal of the Kit:

Recognition and appreciation of all of the facets of the heritage of the city of Jerusalem, while fostering a love for, and a personal connection to, the capital of the Jewish and democratic State of Israel and the capital of the Jewish people.
Familiarity with the cultural and historical aspects of the city of Jerusalem as a component and a source for the strengthening of the personal and national identity of the participants.
Understanding the significance and uniqueness of "Jerusalem Day" as a national holiday.
Dealing with the complexity of the city of Jerusalem after its unification - as a multi-faceted city of many contrasts; a city which is home to people of different nations, religions and cultures, obliging us to be tolerant, fair and mutually respectful.
Strengthening of the moral baggage for the responsible addressment of dilemmas and conflicts in a multi-cultural city and in a multicultural society.
Awareness of the affinity that exists between the "Heavenly Jerusalem" and the "Earthly Jerusalem", and Jerusalem as a symbol and Jerusalem in daily life.
