Short Term Volunteering Opportunities

KKL-JNF invites you to take part in a wide range of volunteer activities throughout the country, designed for groups and individuals interested in contributing for a limited period lasting from one day to several days. These opportunities are ideal for soldiers, workplaces, parent committees, overseas volunteers, and groups of friends looking to step out of their routine and give back to nature.

Forest Cleanups

Mission: To remove litter from forests, parks, and open spaces. This helps protect wildlife that can be harmed by ingesting waste and prevents damage to plant life caused by trampling and trash accumulation.
 
Location: Parks, forests, and trails nationwide (depending on field needs).
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.
 
A staff member or volunteer will welcome the group, provide an overview of the mission, and give safety instructions. At the conclusion of the activity, a certified guide will lead a session highlighting KKL-JNF’s values, with an emphasis on environmental stewardship.
 
Required equipment: Personal water bottle, hat, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and sunscreen. Trash bags and tools will be provided on site as needed.
 
Participants must follow all safety guidelines and staff instructions.

Forest Pruning and Brush Clearing

Mission: To help protect forests from fires and encourage healthy tree growth. Volunteers will prune trees and vegetation and clear brush, supporting the overall health and safety of the forest.
 
Location: Parks and forests nationwide (depending on field needs).
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.
 
A staff member or volunteer will provide an introduction, explain the tasks, and review safety procedures. The day concludes with an educational session about KKL-JNF’s environmental values.
 
Required equipment: Personal water bottle, hat, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and sunscreen.
 
Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines and staff instructions.

Plant Care

Mission: To assist nursery staff in caring for seedlings, including weeding, replacing planting containers, and related tasks.
 
Location: Gilat Nursery, Golani Nursery, Eshtaol Nursery, and Nes Harim Greenhouse (depending on operational needs).
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.
 
A staff member or volunteer will provide guidance and safety instructions. The activity concludes with an educational session on KKL-JNF’s environmental values.
 
Required equipment: Personal water bottle, hat, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and sunscreen. Tools will be provided on site as needed.

Agricultural System Restoration

Mission: To assist in rebuilding and restoring ancient agricultural terraces and rehabilitating land and landscape. Terracing helps preserve natural areas by moderating mountain slopes, preventing soil erosion, and slowing water runoff during the winter season.
 
Location: Central Israel and mountainous regions (depending on field needs).
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.
 
A staff member or volunteer will guide the group, provide safety instructions, and explain the mission. The day concludes with an educational session focused on environmental preservation.
 
Required equipment: Personal water bottle, hat, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and sunscreen. Tools and gloves will be provided as needed.
 
Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines and staff instructions.

Trail Building and Maintenance

Mission: To create and maintain safe, accessible, and welcoming trails leading to key points of interest in the forests. Volunteers will help construct new trails and maintain existing ones.
 
Location: Central Israel and mountainous regions (depending on field needs).
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.

Information and Knowledge Preservation

Mission: To enhance the preservation of KKL-JNF documents and photographs for future generations and improve public accessibility. Volunteers will assist in conserving historical documents and updating archival information.
 
Location: KKL-JNF Archive and the Central Zionist Archives in Jerusalem.
 
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 08:00–15:00.
 
A KKL-JNF staff member or volunteer will introduce the group to the archives and provide guidance for the volunteer work.
 
Required equipment: Water and comfortable clothing suitable for an office environment.
 
Participants must follow all safety guidelines and staff instructions
