UN Forum on Forests 2011

Upon its first time particpating in the forum conference in 2011, a KKL-JNF representative was elected to head the UNFF group of Western European and North American countries, an important position that provides KKL-JNF with an opportunity for meaningful future collaborations.

KKL-JNF's representation at the 2011 conference sat in discussions alongside members of Israel's permanent mission to the United Nations. The overall theme of the conference was "Forests for People", and the KKL-JNF delegation was a major participant in plenary sessions concerning the wording of policy statements and proposed an addendum to one of them.

A KKL-JNF side event during the discussions attracted approximately forty people from a wide variety of countries, including Nepal, the USA, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Switzerland, New Zealand, Jordan, Cyprus and South Africa.

Alongside discussions and informal meetings, KKL-JNF representatives also participated at a side-event of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) on promoting "green cities". The KKL-JNF delegation was invited to a special event of the United States Forest Service, together with the New York Municipality, at which the New York Green City project was launched.
