The events of October 7, 2023, shook Israel to its core. The brutal massacre at the Nova Music Festival (Beeri Forest), the attacks on over 30 communities in the Western Negev, and the devastating aftermath left deep wounds across the entire nation. Entire regions that were once full of life were devastated and severely damaged. Forests that had already endured years of climate challenges suffered even further destruction. Israels landscape, much like its people, was left scarred.
As Israel tries to heal from October 7 and the war that followed, one of the most meaningful ways people around the world can show solidarity, support, and take an active part is by planting trees in Israel.
Planting a tree has always been a powerful symbol of resilience, renewal, and remembrance and even more so since October 7. It is a living way to honor those lost, support affected communities and help heal the land.

Why Planting Trees in Israel Matters Now More Than Ever
For over 120 years, Keren Kayemeth LeIsraelJewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) has been planting forests and supporting people and communities across the country. Today, in the aftermath of October 7, KKL-JNF is more determined than ever to restore and rebuild.
KKL-JNF created the Nova Memorial Site, where families, survivors, and supporters continue to come together in grief, remembrance, and unity. Nearby, KKL-JNF has now inaugurated the Iron Swords Memorial Forest a place where anyone who lost a loved one on Oct 7 and the war can plant a tree in their memory and commemorate them in a lasting and meaningful way. Thousands of trees will grow there, each carrying a name, a story, and a legacy living forever, healing the land, and empowering the next generation.
Every tree becomes:
- A living memorial, honoring someone who was taken too soon.
- A symbol of strength, showing that life will return, even after the darkest days.
- A gift to the land, helping the environment heal.
- A vital part of KKL-JNFs reforestation efforts in the region.
- A true act of support and solidarity.
Anyone, anywhere in the world, can take part and make a difference.
A Personal Way to Make a Difference
People often ask: What can I do from far away? or How can I help Israel in a meaningful, lasting way?
Planting a tree in Israel is the answer. It is simple yet symbolic. Personal yet impactful. Practical yet deeply emotional.
Be part of Israels healing with KKL-JNF.
You can play an active role in rebuilding, help turn loss into life, plant hope and ensure lasting memory one tree at a time.
