Around 20,300 cranes were counted this morning in the Hula Lake – KKL-JNF

The autumn migration is almost at an end, and the 'wintering' season is before us. Most of the cranes located at the lake shall remain with us all winter, until the coming of the spring.

The birds' 'migration clock' is set according to the lengthening and shortening of the daylight hours. At this time of year, when there are fewer hours of daylight, this is the signal for the birds to end their autumn migration and prepare for the winter.

Inbar Shulamit Rubin, the Field Director at the Hula Lake, KKL-JNF: "The winter is a wonderous season at the Lake, it indulges us with amazing colors and panoramas. Plenty of bird species winter at Hula Lake, the cranes obviously and with them Flamingo, many species of ducks, shorebirds, birds of prey and more… We conduct special sunrise tours during the season, in order to let everyone enjoy the spectacular nature of the Lake".
