The event opened with a moment of silence and lighting of the fourth Hanukah candle, and was attended by famous leading Ukrainian artists who expressed support for Israel, with some even singing in Hebrew. During the event, videos of the fighting in southern Israel and Ukraine were shown.
Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky: "Since the beginning of the war, we have seen great support from Ukraine, provided by both decision makers and the public. The support event for Israel, attended by first-class Ukrainian artists, is unprecedented and expresses the friendship and fate shared by both countries."
"Few countries today understand each other better than Israel and Ukraine. The event takes place, symbolically, during the Hanukah holiday. Our message: light will banish darkness, in both Israel and Ukraine."
KKL-Ukraine President Andrei Zaika: "These are hard times for Israel, following a vicious terrorist attack on residents in the country's southern region two months ago. The Israeli people show exceptional solidarity and together, we look forward in hope for better days. Ukraine also had no choice but fighting due to attacks on its cities and residents, a war that has been going on for a long time. Here, the Jewish organizations and the leaders of the Ukrainian Jewish communities, stand in support of both people and pray for better days. I thank the participants who attended this special event here at the Ukrainian capital, and with you, we can help Israel and the Ukrainian Jewish community in their time of need."
