This is the second year of the Climate Awards Ceremony, which recognizes innovative entrepreneurs in the field, as well as researchers from the academia and research institutes, who significantly deepened the study and advanced toward solutions that can aid in the struggle against the climate crisis. The Climate Solutions Award was announced last year, and it is the largest initiative in Israel in encouraging the recruitment of Israel's research and high-tech sectors to provide solutions to the climate crisis.
The award has two tracks – for the advancement of academic research, supporting innovative research by Israeli scientists, and for entrepreneurs, supporting Israeli technologies.
In light of last year's success, KKL-JNF invites researchers to participate in the Innovative Solutions Award research track. The goal of the award is to recruit the research community to find innovative solutions to the climate crisis by developing knowledge and technology with significant influence on the reduction of greenhouse gases.
Proposals should be within the mitigation field: 1. Innovations in reducing greenhouse gas emissions 2. Innovations leading to the improvement of energetic efficiency, renewable energy and energy storage 3. Innovations in increasing carbonite absorption. The award is in the sum of a million dollars, divided by up to three winners. Proposals should be submitted by August 1, 2023.
KKL-JNF Chief Scientist Doron Merkel: "The Climate Solutions Award is an important tool in encouraging Israeli research and excellence that will help mankind deal with the biggest crisis it ever faced. We are at a very critical point in time, very close to the point of no return, and any solution that can help us deal with it is welcome."
