Among the participants in the ceremony were KKL-JNF Northern Region representatives, KKL-JNF's Chief Scientist, and representatives of the Israeli Water Authority and the "Peleg Hagalil" water corporation, which operates the reservoirs.
The ceremony was held on July 12, as a tribute to the Hoppenheim family, whose donations were used in the establishment of the reservoir. The Mahanayim Southern Reservoir is mostly used by the farmers in the area. It consists of two water facilities, each containing 380,000 cubic meters of water. The treated wastewater come from a nearby wastewater treatment institute, and are used to water local agricultural crops.
Among the guests in the ceremony were members of the Upper Galilee Regional Council, members of the local water department, and members of the KKL-JNF senior staff. Farmers who use water from the reservoir have presented the Hoppenheim family with the crops that grew in the past year.
Ronnie Vinnikov, KKL-JNF's Head of Resource Development and External Affairs Division, said, "We are grateful to the Hoppenhem family for their contribution to the Israeli water sector, which also greatly contributed to Zionist development. The Israeli water sector is among our most advanced and important fields. KKL-JNF is proud to take part in this activity, and will continue to promote environmentalism and solutions to the climate crisis.
