In the open air, and sometimes three children on a bench – this is how Israeli children studies in the years the led to and followed the country's declaration of independence, in a time when there were no tablets, computers or air condition.
According to Efrat Sini, manager of the KKL-JNF photo archive, "as the KKL-JNF photographers documented the development of Israel, they did not forget to take pictures of the younger generation that was learning to love the country and its values, no less than it was learning Bible and science lessons. In their cameras, the photographers captured school uniforms, structures (some long-gone) and everyday lives in Israel. These treasures are preserved in the KKL-JNF photo archive."
