KKL-JNF has constructed dozens of leisure facilities out of wooden cable spools discarded by the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC).
This special initiative repurposes discarded materials for the benefit of the community, and KKL-JNF has used 300 cable spools donated by the Israel Electric Corporation to furnish picnic and seating areas. IEC presented the spools to KKL-JNF as part of the corporation’s efforts to connect with the public, protect the environment and refurbish nature sites.
KKL-JNF World Chairman Daniel Atar said that the collaboration “suits us down to the ground, as we are currently working on a ‘Can’t See the Forest for the Plastic’ campaign to get plastic out of the forests and protect the environment.
“Recycling disused items to create attractive leisure areas for the benefit of the public is an added bonus as far as we are concerned. We attach great importance to every effort to quash destructive polluting tendencies that seriously damage the global environment, and prefer to invest resources in items that will help to conserve and protect nature.”
