KKL-JNF invested about 4 million shekels in the renovation of David Park, the KKL-JNF garden for excellence in Nazareth Illit (Upper Nazareth). The accessible garden, which was dedicated at a festive ceremony, includes a unique water fountain, an outdoor amphitheater, sitting corners and an adventure playground.
KKL-JNF recently renovated David Park, the KKL-JNF garden for excellence, which is located on Atzmon Street in Upper Nazareth, next to the KKL-JNF House for Excellence (the first of its kind in Israel).
The upgrading of the garden was carried out according to plans designed by the
Yael Bar Maor Landscape Architecture Studio, with an investment of approximately 4 million shekels. On Tuesday, October 23, the site was dedicated in the presence of Upper Nazareth Mayor
Ronen Plot, KKL-JNF World Chairman Daniel Atar, Upper Nazareth Chief Rabbi
Yeshayahu Herzl, local residents and many guests.
The work to upgrade the park, which covers an area of about one and a half acres, included building an outdoor theater that can seat up to 150 people, installing benches tables and playground equipment, planting trees, planting vegetation that attracts birds and butterflies, and paving new paths. The entire garden has been made
accessible to people with physical limitations.
The highpoint of the renovation project was the building of a synchronized water fountain with ten water jets, the like of which cannot be found anywhere else in Upper Nazareth. It is expected to attract many visitors to the park. In the renovation plans, KKL-JNF placed special emphasis on creating a space that highlights and educates about the importance of nature in urban settings. In order to achieve this goal, KKL-JNF installed special explanatory signs.
At the garden dedication ceremony, Upper Nazareth Mayor Ronen Plot thanked KKL-JNF World Chairman Daniel Atar, the architects, the engineers and everyone who took part in the renovation project.
“KKL-JNF does many important things for the benefit of our city’s youth and for all the residents of Upper Nazareth. We are very grateful to KKL-JNF.”
In his remarks at the ceremony, KKL-JNF World Chairman Daniel Atar noted the great effort KKL-JNF invests in promoting and developing all aspects of life in Israel’s peripheral regions, from education to employment.
“KKL-JNF promotes processes in the
Galilee and in the south that further development in these peripheral regions and encourage demographic growth.”
