Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (KKL) Mexico had the privilege and honor of hosting the renowned Catalan writer and journalist Ms.
Pilar Rahola. Over two days (October 21-22), Pilar Rahola moved and inspired her audiences in a series of interviews, lectures and special events that reflected on the challenges and threats of the current world situation and the status of the Jewish communities worldwide. Pilar Rahola lectured in front of audiences from the Mexican Jewish and Evangelical communities, including two joint keynote conferences.
Ms. Pilar Rahola was accompanied by Mr.
Ariel Goldgewicht, Director of the Department for Latin America, Spain and Portugal at KKL-JNF Israel;
Patricia Saltiel, President of
KKL Mexico, and
Nissim Shasho, Executive-Director of KKL Mexico, all of whom made these successful events possible.
During her visit, Pilar Rahola presented at the 2nd International Book Fair her most recent book "S.O.S. Cristianos" [S.O.S. Christians] which tells about the silent persecution and killing of Christians in the 21st century. In this book, Rahola speaks up and sheds light on this delicate topic that people refuse to discuss, and which, due to the spread of Islamic fundamentalism, has become a matter of survival for Christian religious groups. With in-depth and impressive data, Rahola draws attention to hate-driven incidents and lack of human rights that affect both Jews and Christians alike.
Another major event was a breakfast attended by 25 of the most prominent Evangelical pastors in Mexico City, who are members of the PAAZ institution (PAAZ – Spanish acronym for Pastors who Love and Support Zion), among them pastors
Aaron Cortés and
Felipe García who cooperate with projects and activities run by KKL Mexico.
In addition, a conference for the Evangelical community was held at the Jewish Sports Center, with an attendance of over 600 guests.
In Latin America there are approximately 200 million Evangelists, advocates of love and support for Israel. KKL Mexico invests great efforts in strengthening the bonds with the Evangelical communities engaged in promoting a fuller picture of Israel in the Diaspora while offering extraordinary support towards the country’s prosperity.
