KKL Mexico and Procuenca Fund Team Up for Environmental Change

They key factor in the implementation of socio-environmental projects is the ability to promote trust, bonding and learning

March 18: Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael of Mexico and the Procuena Fund sign a partnership agreement to advance sustainable wood harvesting for the Amanalco-Valle de Bravo communities, creating a source of livelihood while protecting the environment.

Natural environments are the main source of influence on human behavior, hence they are directly linked to our personal and social development. Sustainable community projects are of high importance in our society, as they are responsible for preserving the environment and improving our quality of life in many different ways.

On March 18, at the Avándaro Golf Club, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael of Mexico and the Procuena Fund (Fondo Procuenca) signed an agreement to formalize cooperation in a community project designed to preserve the environment and create resources that will allow the local community to have a sustainable source of income for themselves and for future generations.

When the community is perceived as a series of inter-related systems, there is a greater opportunity to build projects, systems and services suited to meet the needs of its members and ensure a better quality of life.

They key factor in the implementation of socio-environmental projects is the ability to promote trust, bonding and learning, while forming a connection between local settings and sustainable commercial use of their renewable natural resources.

The joint project of KKL Mexico and Procuenca seeks to create forested zones in order to obtain wood, thereby generating a source of livelihood for the inhabitants of the area. These forests will be cared for and protected to prevent deforestation, thus allowing the preservation of natural areas in Valle de Bravo and encouraging the community towards environmental sustainability.

The statement made by Patricia Katz de Saltiel, President of KKL Mexico, conveys a powerful message regarding the enormous impact of these projects on our country and the entire planet:

"We are proud to be part of this agreement with Procuenca Fund, to support and advise the Amanalco-Valle de Bravo communities on productive projects, in order to enrich their quality of life through a correct approach to forest conservation and environmental awareness."

"I am here because I firmly believe in the project which Keren Kayemet LeIsrael has been leading for over 115 years – the environmental transformation of the Land of Israel. It is our pride and honor, and it should serve as a model for all of us. If we succeeded in turning an inhospitable land, covered with desert and swamps, into a blooming orchard – we can surely achieve, with the help of Procuenca and your support, the realization of sustainable environmental projects in these beloved lands, blessed with natural wealth."
