Sha’ar HaGai Scenic Lookout (Mitzpor Sha’ar HaGai)

Location: South of Sha’ar HaGai, Judean Plain.

Description: A surprising observation point overlooking the entrance to Sha’ar HaGai from the head of a bank constructed when building the Sha’ar HaGai bypass. KKL-JNF opened the place as an observation point that became a memorial site for the fallen soldiers of the Fifth Battalion and the fallen soldiers who were new immigrants from the USA and Canada, as part of Rabin Park. There are signs at the top of the hill explaining about the battles that took place here in the days of the War of Independence.

Directions: From Sha’ar HaGai Interchange drive south towards Beit Shemesh (Route 38), and immediately after the interchange connects to the road, next to a poultry shed, turn right onto the dirt road marked in black. The road climbs and reaches Sha’ar HaGai scenic lookout after 500 m. Disabled-accessible without special adaptations.
