In 2019, KKL-JNF prepared 51 plots of land at Kibbutz Kalia, each in the size of 400 square meters. The plots were prepared as part of the community expansion known as "Kalia Landscapes" as part of the "Build Your House" project which started in 2012.
As of 2020, Kalia has about 350 residents, and it houses the regional high school "Megilot" which serves all the regional council's towns. The Kibbutz's main industries are agriculture and tourism.
