Halutziyot
Three new communities are presently being built in the sands of Halutza in the Negev, for Gush Katif evacuees and other people from all over Israel, who have not lost the pioneering spirit and aspire to settle the Negev. These new towns are Benei Netzarim (Halutzit 1), Naveh (Halutzit 4) and Shelomit.
After too many years of living in temporary locations, Gush Katif evacuees are begining to move into these new communities and begin their lives anew.

KKL-JNF is playing a central role in the establishment of these towns, as the organization responsible for the earthworks for building homes, public buildings, temporary residential neighborhoods and agricultural fields. All these projects are possible thanks to contributions from friends of KKL-JNF in Italy, UK, USA, Canada and Latin America.
Halutzit will be home to the largest complex of farming hothouses in Israel, extending over an area of 300 hectares (750 acres), as well as an additional 600 hectares (1,500 acres) of open agricultural fields.
Large quantities of trees relocated from Gush Katif will be planted in the area. KKL-JNF is currently caring for these trees at its Gilat tree nursery while they await transfer to their new home in Halutzit.
The 3 new communities are located Eshkol Regional Council, about five kilometers from the Gaza Strip and two kilometers east of the Egyptian border. Building a community in this strategic location will strengthen Israel’s presence and enhance security for the residents of the south. Halutzit will become home to hundreds of families – farmers, flower growers, and other residents who were obliged to leave their former homes and who have not yet found appropriate housing and employment.
Carmit
A new urban community called Carmit is currently being built in the northern Negev. This unique project aims to encourage immigrants from English-speaking countries to settle in the Negev.
KKL-JNF, together with the Ministry of Housing and other government bodies, has reclaimed land for Carmits's housing and roads, and is carrying out the necessary development works.
The community will eventually include 2,500 housing units and will also contain a high school, a community center, a library, youth clubs, a public park, sports facilities, a country club, synagogues, and more.
