After a meeting with the representatives of the families of the victims of the festival, and as a result of the fact that permanent commemoration on the site has yet to be decided, KKL-JNF decided to pick up the gauntlet and initiate the upgrade plan. The area in which the festival took place was classified as an area for forestry development, and it is located within an ecological corridor and a concentration of blooming anemones. The master plan of KKL-JNF permits the establishment of small picnic parks, accessible trails, restroom buildings and more in this area.
Ifat Ovadia-Luski, KKL-JNF Chairwoman: "For almost a year now we have been living in a complex reality of this damned war that has been forced upon us. The massacre struck the southern towns and those who attended the Nova Music Festival. KKL-JNF is working to upgrade the camping park that became a memorial site which the families, as well as the public at large, visit. We are upgrading the access routes and the trails on site and additionally we will be placing restrooms, faucets and an irrigation system for the grove that we planted there with the bereaved families. We will continue to support and embrace the families in their difficult times".
