The Israeli delegation will arrive to Amdjarass and Ndjamena to work towards strengthening collaborative efforts between Israel and Chad while helping both countries to advance in areas of sustainability and de-desertification.
The delegation will explore and learn these topics:
1. Assessing Date agriculture industry in Chad – Knowledge sharing and technical exchange related to improving cultivation, yield, and markets for date plantations.
2. Monitoring water fluxes, volume, and potential availability in reservoirs next to Amdjarass – Develop better understanding of the water balance and changing water levels over the different seasons and throughout the years, in consideration of the water flow from the river, rains and overflow, as well as soil erosion. Thus, helping to evaluate the potential of the reservoirs to hold water and the need for maintenance.
Director of Forest Management and Monitoring Department in KKL-JNF, Asaf Karavani, Head of the delegation: "I am proud to represent KKL-JNF and continue to promote the cooperation with Chad. We are excited to visit our colleagues abroad, to get to know Chad's culture and communities, learn about the forestry and agricultural techniques used in the country, and of course, share our knowledge and technologies.
International collaborations such as this are especially significant in dealing with the global climate change. Only together we can prepare for and deal with its consequences. KKL-JNF, as a leading, professional and enterprising environmental organization, is committed to finding sustainable solutions to local and global challenges, and therefore it is our delight to visit Chad and deepen our relations, the channels of mutual knowledge exchange and cooperation."
Amnon Greenberg, Israeli expert at Southern Arava R&D and Chairman of the Date Round Table at the Israeli Plants, Production and Marketing Board: "We welcome KKL-JNF's cooperation with Chad and we appreciate the opportunity to participate and share the knowledge we have accumulated in Israel over the years in the field of desert agriculture. KKL-JNF and Southern Arava R&D work together throughout the year to develop additional and diverse fields of knowledge in forestry, climate, and agriculture. I have no doubt that the partnerships we have created will help many around the world to produce high-quality and healthy food, alongside dealing with the climate crisis. We embark on this special visit with great excitement and with the expectation of returning to Israel with insights we will gain and hopefully optional projects moving forward.
