The Glassman Building: New at the Herzog Medical Center in Givat Shaul – The Dr. Max and Gianna Glassman Ambulatory Infirmary

KKL-JNF, JNF-Canada and the hospital's management have invested tens of millions of Israeli Shekels in the project. The new building will include a psychiatric ambulatory array, a psychotrauma treatment center, a psycho-geriatric infirmary and psychiatric infirmaries for young people, adults and the elderly population, along with treatment gardens.

The new, beautiful building brings a true innovation for those who need mental health care at the Jerusalem region, especially in light of recent discussions about the hard conditions that psychiatric medicine faces in Israel. The new building will replace the older, smaller building built sixty years ago. The building occupies 3,000 square meters, 5 floors and 2 treatments gardens.

Gadi Perl, board member, KKL-JNF: "as the son of a psychiatrist, and a grandson of a patient who spent her last days under the devoted care of this hospital's staff, I enter the sacred halls of this establishment with great awe. I am grateful for this place and the many good thing it has already done. I am extremely honored to represent KKL-JNF in this project. The help from JNF-Canada has made the construction of the building possible, which allows for better treatment for those who suffer and in need of our doctors."

Lance Davis, chief executive officer, JNF-Canada: JNF-Canada is happy and excited to see the project becoming a reality. Making the vision of the late Dr. Max Glassman coming to life makes us proud, and thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors from all over Canada, thousands of Israelis will be treated in this center. We appreciate the hard work of KKL-JNF and the Herzog Medical center on the project.

Mr. Shamai Keinan, chairman of the board, Herzog Hospital:"The Glassman building allows coordination of all the ambulatory mental health care services under one roof. We serve about 2,000 patients from Jerusalem and its surrounding area each month. We have fully relocated the psychiatric ambulatory array, which until recently operated from Shimon HaChacham street in Jerusalem, to the building. It is an excellent psychiatric array, which takes care of wide spectrum of populations:from children and teenagers to the elderly, including a psycho-geriatric infirmary which provides treatment to those who suffer from Alzheimer and dementia. In addition, we now have a permanent resided from the MEITAV center of psychotrauma care, focusing on research, teaching and treating psychotrauma victims, which has moved from one location to another for the past twenty years. Along with the Israeli Ministry of Health, we are now planning the next stage: a new psychiatric admission building, which will stand next to the mental health care infirmaries building. The admission building will include emergency room, four admission departments and other services for the population that suffers from mental problems."
