Among the recipients of these packages will be elderly citizens, Holocaust survivors and needy families from 46 cities and towns across the country that partner with KKL-JNF in implementing MAOF, KKL-JNF’s innovative informal education program. Hundreds of volunteers, including participants in KKL-JNF scouting groups, members of youth movements and organizations, students at pre-military academies, KKL-JNF employees and volunteers from the cities and towns themselves have been recruited to personally deliver the packages. In addition, these volunteers will participate in educational activities and workshops that will include discussions on social responsibility and the importance of volunteering and helping the needy. This project has been made possible thanks to the generosity of KKL-JNF Friends in Sweden and Italy, through KKL-JNF’s Resource Development Division.
Sar-Shalom Jerbi, Director of KKL-JNF's Education and Community Division: ‘’For over 120 years, KKL-JNF has worked to build the State as well as a society based on values of mutual aid. Passover, which celebrates the exodus from Egypt from slavery to freedom, marks the beginning of our existence as a people. It is our obligation to do everything possible so that everyone can experience the holiday with freedom and joy. Therefore, I would like to thank our Friends in Italy and Sweden for their generous donation that made this project possible and contributed to our work to strengthen values of social responsibility in the community. I would also like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who distributed the baskets and enabled many to experience the holiday with dignity and joy.’’
Max Federmann, President of KKL-JNF Sweden: "In light of the great success of the Purim basket project, KKL-JNF supporters in Sweden decided to partner in distributing food baskets for the upcoming Passover holiday. It gives us great happiness to give back to the community and help others celebrate in accordance with Jewish tradition. This project reflects our commitment not only to nature and ecological issues, but to society as well. After all, everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy Jewish traditions in a beautiful and cultivated environment. "
