Two elderly people who are Holocaust survivors were incapable of reaching their homes with wheelchairs. Thanks to the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Survivors and KKL-JNF employees, a paved access path to their houses was paved.

A request was recently received at KKL-JNF on behalf of a Holocaust survivor who lives in Gannei Tikva and her husband who is disabled. The couple lives in a small and modest house that has no access path.

The Holocaust survivor’s husband, who was in need of nursing care after extended hospitalization, was not able to return to his home, which is surrounded by sandy ground, without making it wheelchair accessible.

KKL-JNF Central Region representatives who received the request decided on the spot to pave an appropriate access path that would make it possible for the woman’s husband to come home. According to Yoav Safahi, Director of the KKL-JNF Central Division Implementation Unit, “after the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Survivors found donors for funding necessary renovations in the house itself, there needed to be an access path. I am happy that KKL-JNF employees volunteered to pave the path immediately.”
