The rehabilitation of northern Israel’s burned forests began immediately the war ended, thanks to the immediate and generous help from KKL-JNF Friends worldwide. KKL-JNF staff are working to speed up the growth of new saplings, marking out planting sites and planning large-scale planting campaigns for the coming winter. “We shall see our forests as green and beautiful as they were before,” said forester Ofir Gamliel

Several groups of residents of northern Israel – a hundred and twenty people in all – recently returned home after a ten-day break in Germany. Their holiday was made possible by a generous donation from friends of the KKL-JNF in Germany, Mr. Ignaz Blodinger and his wife, and Mr. Joseph Buchman, whose contributions covered all the costs.

During the last week, senior management of JNF America – Russel Robinson, CEO, Leonard Kleinman, JNF America Vice-President and Bud Levin, Campaign Chairman - went on tour to the North and to the KKL-JNF field centers to see for themselves the extent of the damage and the activities of KKL-JNF during the war.  We spoke to Leonard Kleinman and Bud Levin on their experiences and impressions.

A friend of KKL-JNF Germany has invited 120 residents of northern Israel for a holiday in Germany to give them an opportunity to recover from the stresses and dangers they experienced during the war. For Motti and Bella Sabag this is an unscheduled honeymoon. For Adi Cohen, the trip abroad comes as demobilization present. And Rachel and Avi Simhayev are trying to find consolation after their home was destroyed in the war.
